Portrait gifts

With student finance giving it's last payment, I've had to be thriftier with gifts this year. So I've taken to doing little portraits. They've been nice to crack out and take a break from heftier projects. Its been a pretty good practice in likeness, and for the two central images, a great exercise in detail and rendering.

CV writing workshop

I'm clueless when it comes to writing CV's, or I was, now that I have a handy list to follow:

AOI presentation with Lou Bones

Bones visited again to give us a refresher on  her presentation of the world of illustration, here are the notes I made during the presentation:

Visiting professional: Scott Bakal

- Always maintained a varied output, photography, music and illustration being a selection

- Got stuck as a typecast artist, creating visual metaphor work that he feels wasnt that strong or smart.

- Saw that this wasn't working for him and decided to improve and change his output because of it.

- Big emphasis on the research behind his works, always trying to give his wrk a visual punch through ideas.

- Through his network of creative friends has found opportunities, art for a video game being one.

It is worth making note of his promotional works, beautifully printed, this work is the epitome of professional finish.
