Further reflections on Badlands
As is probably obvious, I got a ton from this trip, and a lot to consider. For some reason the thing that weighs on my mind most is the lack of personal projects on the go by crew. Its understandable considering they get probably around three four hours down time at home after work each day, but this is something I find would be important to me when working. I feel there is a difference in outlook here. These are professionals that have a skill, and want to make a good living from it, whereas I find identity and expression to be a huge part of why I illustrate. I feel these traits would definitely have to be dropped if I worked on one of the more demanding roles. It is for this reason I feel that storyboarding would still be the avenue for me. I totally understand Paco's warning, but following the rigidity of storyboarding, would allow me the free time to work on my own projects.
