I'm planning on updating my website pretty soon, so I thought it best to reflect on existing artists sites, collating a list of elements that I appreciated, and things I disliked.

-Having your portfolio appear instantly on the opening page streamlines the experience of using the site.
-Slight animated elements (for example Gian Galangs name) Really jump out, but having other animated images in the portfolio may slow the website.
-Large images dont really pay off, especially if you are to scroll through them. It is better to have a selection of smaller images, so the user can select images that they prefer.
- Give series and concept driven outcomes their own area to be appreciated as a whole
- Have contact be as simple as possible, some make it difficult to find an email of form.
